W kraju gdzie ponad 50% spoleczenstwa jest za legalizacja marihuany, Stephen Herper pogrzebal swoje zwyciestwo w przyszlych wyborach.

Kiedys nawet popieralem Konserwatystow, ale szybko zauwazylem, ze za duzo oni sie nie roznia programem od innych socjal-demokratycznych partii w Kanadzie. Herper zamiast zmniejszac biurokracje (najwieksza na swiecie, za komuny byla druga po Zwiasku Sowieckim) czy podatki, to ten "czerwony Torys" (Red Tory) ograniczac chce prawa Kanadyjczykow do konsumpcji marihuany. Jedna rzecz, ktora Konserwatysci proponuja to obok publicznej prywatna sluzbe zdrowia. Za ta idea to i ja bym sie podpisal. Bo kanadyjska publiczna sluzba zdrowia tzw. "darmowa" juz zaczyna przypominac PRL-wska (kiepska jakosc, dlugie kolejki i ukryte platnosci).

Conservatives would kill house arrest, scrap Liberal plan to decriminalize marijuana

Conservative leader Stephen Harper released his party's plan to crack down on drug crimes. He promised on Saturday to impose mandatory minimum sentences, eliminate conditional sentences such as house arrest, bring in tougher fines for drug traffickers and producers, scrap Liberal plans to decriminalize marijuana and introduce a national drug strategy targeted at youth. The Tory approach to drug crimes would slap mandatory minimum sentences of at least two years for trafficking drugs such as heroin, cocaine and crystal meth. It would also apply the same penalties to similar offences involving bulk amounts of marijuana or hashish. Fines for trafficking or producing drugs would escalate for repeat offences.

Harper hints he may have toked in his heart, but not his lungs

After his get-tough-on-drug-crime announcement on Saturday, Conservative leader Stephen Harper was asked: "Have you ever tried drugs?" and his response suggests wither a quick wit or quick study. "In terms of whether I've ever tried or been tempted [to smoke marijuana]? In terms of tried, I think you know that I've said before that I'm asthmatic. I cannot smoke and have never smoked anything," Mr. Harper said. "In terms of temptation I will leave any comment on that to my dialogue with my maker."

Possesion and growing small amounts of cannabis and magic mushrooms will no longer be punishable in the Czech Republic under a new law approved by the lower house of parliament this week. Currently, Czech law makes no distinction between possession of drugs for personal use and those for commercial purposes. Small amounts are defined as a maximum of three cannabis plants and 25 hallucinogenic mushrooms. In criminal cases, the new law would also usher in for the first time different penalties for "soft" and "hard" drugs.
