The federal government introduced new legislation yesterday designed to crack down on identity thieves and reduce the growing number of fraud-related crimes. The new bill will amend the Criminal Code, making it illegal for anyone to collect and hoard other people's personal information - including debit and credit cards and driver's licences ("ID theft targeted", METRO, Thursday, November 22, 2007).
