Z ukrainskiego narodowego poety

tylko buty zostaly.

Dwutonowy pomnik z brazu poety Tarasa Szewczenki zostal skradziony z parku w Oakville.

THE THEFT OF a five-metre bronze statue from an Oakville park has prompted a meeting of the board of directors for the foundation that administers the park.
THE STATUE of 19th-century Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko was stolen from the park late last month. The board, which administers the Taras Shevchenko Memorial Park, is meeting today to discuss what course of action they will take (METRO, Tuesday, January 2, 2007).

Saddam, rzeznik z Bagdadu, mial niezreczna mine jak mu zakladano stryczek na szyje. Pamietacie go przed 2003 roku? Ze sztrzelba w reku, z usmiechem zwyciezcy? Teraz u boku Szatana z mieczem w reku obcina glowy tym, ktorzy trafiaja do piekla. Mowia, ze zadna praca nie hanbi.

Raised by a poor peasant family in a mud hut in a small village dominated by tribal loyalties Saddam aspired to a life of riches, opulent palaces and power...
Saddam had a harsh and brutal childhood. His stepfather was a cruel, illiterate peasant who beat him and called him the "son of a whore" (Peter Goodspeed, "Death of a Dictator", NATIONAL POST, Saturday, December 30, 2006).

Wczoraj mielismy 9.2 stopni Celsjusza. Najcieplejszy 1 stycznia w historii Toronto. Czy to pieklo sie rozgrzalo z okazji przyjecia Saddama? Ta egzekucja bolszewicko-nazistowskiego tyrana kosztowala Amerykanow 3000 zabitych zolnierzy. Ale bylo warto. Pozbylismy sie malego Hitlerka.

Warto znalezc pewna perspektywe. W czasie II wojny swiatowej w jednym dniu wojny ginelo ponad 1500 zolnierzy amerykanskich. Ponad 3000 dziennie ginelo Warszawiakow w Powstaniu Warszawskim. 3 tys. zolnierzy w ciagu prawie 4 lat wojny w Iraku to koszt niewielki. To minimalne poswiecenie zolnierza amerykanskiego aby nie robic powtorki z II wojny swiatowej oplacilo sie i bedzie procentowac na dluga mete. Niech Bog blogoslawi Ameryke!

Theft of Oakville statue shocks area's Ukrainian community

ERECTED IN 1951

'People are asking if it's really true'

BY LAURA HENDRICK

The theft of a two-tonne statue in an Oakville park marks the end of an era for some in Toronto's Ukrainian community. The bronze statue of Ukrainian poet, Taras Shevchenko, was reported missing on Saturday after serving as a prominent landmark for more than half a century.
The monument was erected in 1951 to commemorate the 60th year of Ukrainians in Canada. Bill Harasym, who looks after the statue as president of Toronto's Taras Shevchenko Museum, said he and many others are still in disbelief.
"The reaction is coming in fast and furious," Mr. Harasym said. "People keep asking if it's really true."
He says he considers Taras Shevchenko to be the founder of the modern Ukrainian language. "Our objective was not only to help Ukrainian people learn about their heritage, but to introduce this great figure to Canadians in general" (NATIONAL POST, Tuesday, January 2, 2007).
