SCYZORYKI
BARLOW. Wzor angielski WITNESS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND + wz. amerykanski CASE XX. WHAT IS A BARLOW KNIFE? "Despite its British origin, the Barlow knife rooted itself as an iconic tool" ("Around the Barlow knife"). *** "Noz, ktory okazal sie scyzorykiem ukrytym gdzies w kurtce" - DAVID WILDSTEIN. "Scyzoryk to kieszonkowy noz ze skladana glownia" - AI *** "Scyzoryk - rodzaj kieszonkowego noza ze skladana glownia" - WIKIPEDIA. *** scyzoryk po angielsku? *** SCYZORYK A SPRAWA POLSKA. *** PIS-OWIEC ZE SCYZORYKIEM. *** "Usmiechniety Premier nakreca klamstwo, ze byl to atak nozem" - DAVID WILDSTEIN. *** "Mlodzi ludzie przynosza noze do szkoly" - MARCIN KIERWINSKI ("POGLOS"). *** "Systemowy hejt, ktory rozkreca PiS" - POGLOS. *** "Dzialacz PiS-u uderzyl policjantke" - POGLOS. *** NOZ ZWANY - "SCYZORYKIEM". W polskiej polityce wrze za sprawa - scyzoryka. W polskiej "tradycji i kulturze nozowej" wystepuje termin "scyzoryki kieleckie". Autor biblii noza A.J. Cardenal "KNIFE BIBLE", autor jedynej istniejacej publikacji o scyzorykach Mike Yarbrough "The Guy's Guide to Pocket Knives". oraz jednego z najlepszych "nozownikow", czyli specjalista do walk na noze Hank Reinhardt, "Hank Reinhardt's Book of Knives: A Practical and Illustrated Guide to Knife Fighting". *** THE BARLOW This is a classic "boy's knife, if there ever was one. The Barlow is a medium-sized knife with a teardrop-shaped handle and one or two blades on one end. The original Barlow was made in Sheffield, England - same as the peasant knife, and in around the same decade - by a man named Obidiah Barlow. Within another generation, the Barlow would be made in America, where it would become a staple of any rugged boy's arsenal. George Washington is reported to have received a Barlow kinfe from his mother as a reward for his obedience. This knife is now on display at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Alexandria, Virginia. I doesn't get much more American than that! (Mike Yarbrough, "The Guy's Guide to Pocket Knives"). *** "A knife is mankind's oldest multipurpose tool" - A.J. CARDENAL. *** SLIPJOINT-STYLE KNIFE The slipjoint-style knife was first developed in 1660. The "Barlow knife", manufactured by the John Russell Cutlery Company in 1875, is a good adaptation and representation of this style of pocket-knife. These knives were said to be built to outlast their owner, at a price of only a few coins. John Russell Cutlery Company was an American manufacturer of knives, known today as the Russel Harrington Cutlery Company/Dexter-Russel, Inc., located in Massachusetts. Even though the Barlow-style pocketknife was first created in the early 1600s in Sheffield, England, some people refer to the Barlow knife as being "as American as baseball." George Washington carried a Barlow knife throughout his military career and while he served as president of the United States. The Barlow was the knife of American heroes and a symbol that marked the transition from childhood to adulthood. Mark Twain wrote a great deal about the Barlow knife in his great literary accomplishments, such as the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sowyer. Different styles of pocketknives later emerged, such as the Canoe, the Trapper, the Congress, the Whittler, the Texas Toothpick, the Copperhead, the Muskrat, the Swayback, and the Lockback. Some of these styles, namely the Lockback, were first introduced around the fifteenth century, while others, such as the Trapper, the Canoe, the Congress, and the Toothpiock, emerged in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centures (A.J. Cardenal, "Knife Bible"). *** "I've always had a lot of respect for old people because some of them didn't get that way by being timid. Some of them are just plain fangerous!" - "Hank Reinhardt's Book of Knives: A Practical and Illustrated Guide to Knife Fightning")
